I scratch my arms with a sharp piece of metal. It doesn’t really cut but it leaves scratches that look like cat scratches and are thin lines of scab. I’m sad a lot. Does this mean I have depression (I DON’T have anxiety even though I get anxious sometimes…)

If you are sad a lot you may have depression… depression is defined as a loss of interest in pleasurable things and finding it difficult to get up and do things that you have previously enjoyed diong as well as potential for wanting to end your life or injure yourself.
If you scratch yourself with the metal because it translates emotional pain into physical pain…or because you want to see how much you can hurt yourself as a test of personal willpower (with self harm or suicide being the motivation) or because you want other people to see it and recognise your pain..then yes I would say you are depressed.
If you feel you need help in this area please see your school counsellor and doctor.

We can’t diagnose here . You could have depression or you could be not dealing with your life issues in a healthy way. See a professional.
