Can anyone help me get over the fear to sleep?

Every night for the past month, I have been having the craziest and scariest dreams! It makes me terrified to go to sleep at night. I stay up as late as I can now so I don’t sleep as long. Can anyone help me? Or are there any remedies or treatments for this?

You are causing the problem by trying to find a solution. You are extremely anxious, and you need to calm down. Studies have shown that the later you go to bed, the more likely it is that you will have nightmares. Studies also show that sleeping in a cold room can cause nightmares. I haven’t actually seen this to be true. I go to bed extremely late and sleep in a freezing cold room, and I have never had a nightmare (at least none that I can remember), but I have been researching dreams lately and these are some studies I found. Hope I helped 🙂

Therapy, if you want to go down that route. Maybe changing the way you sleep could help. Get some melatonin pills, lavender air freshener, and chamomile tea. Maybe invest in a softer comforter? It seems like these dreams are stressing you out (or you’re already stressed and that’s causing the dreams), try yoga and meditation.

I think the suggestions above by @cosmyn and @kwik are good ideas, if that doesn’t work I suggest…Chinese people believe in good and bad Karma called “Feng Shui.” Feng Shui is a way of living in which you have to change your surroundings to have good Karma. For example, in Hong Kong, there was a restaurant that had very bad Karma, so they had a Feng Shui fortune teller go to their restaurant. The Feng Shui person told them nothing, except to put a hanging clock on the left hand wall. After that, many people go to that restaurant. These things are very weird, but they do happen. Feng Shui can not only affect business, but also to your sleeping cause right now. If you don’t live close to Asia, look around in Chinatown and ask some Chinese people. They might have suggestions of which Feng Shui person is best. If that doesn’t work, try putting a dream catcher beside your bed.

If you are eating or drinking things you do not usually have, this may be causing your trouble sleeping. Aspartame, food colorings and other food preservatives, have been shown to cause trouble concentrating, inability to focus and in some cases ADHD, insomnia and/or nightmares. Look to see what you are eating and drinking and see if this is the cause. If not, see a doctor to get to the root of this problem. Take care.

Dream catchers help. They probably don’t but mentally your mind might trick you into thinking they do. Also I fall asleep to my favorite show playing on my phone so it turns off when it’s done and it helps a lot.

Check to see if there is a (medical)
Sleep center in your area. A doctor could give you a referral or go to your nearest hospital and check with the hospital staff there. They should be able to direct you. Maybe even help advise you of help if you do not have insurance. Good luck to you.
