Is a fractured finger a valid reason for not exercising like running etc?

I broke my finger couple of days ago and have decided to go to school anyway. However, we go running almost every morning at school and I don’t feel comfortable with that so can I “pull the broken finger card” to convince my teacher why I can’t run?
Additionally: the finger has stitches and I was given some very strong pain meds if any of that may factor into this

If you look at the information you supplied you’ll see that you have already answered your own question. The broken finger is an excuse for not running, it’s certainly NOT a valid reason. If you don’t want to run then use it as an excuse by all means, but don’t make the mistake of believing it yourself.

You can say that the pain meds have some sort of side effect that makes you kinda drowsy or dizzy because pain meds can have that type of effect. Other than that, I don’t think a hurt finger should get you out of running, one doesn’t really have to do with the other.

Sure! I think that’s good for a week off, anyway, brcause the bouncing might hurt & you on pain meds, but you could probaly still do it if you like running- just stop if you don’t feel right, I think?

Umm I wouldn’t think so unless the meds make you drowsy. One of the girls at my rink broke her arm snowboarding and she skated with a cast on (she’s landing double rotation jumps) it threw her off balance a tiny bit but a broken finger won’t affect you being able to run.

Would a broken leg keep you from typing?

This really depends on two things: The first would be your threshold for pain compared to the importance and the significance of the task regarding this issue. My philosophy based on 4 years of college football, and 25+ years of martial arts training and competition is that there is a big difference between being injured and hurt. An injury prohibits you from practicing and competing in the sport, due to the extent of the injury itself, which would be detrimental to your health, and create further damage to injury, if continued. If you are hurt, you can still practice and compete, but you will be in the mental state of discomfort. It really all depends on you. I have always played and competed while I was “hurt”. For me, it was just mental. I have a high threshold for pain. I believe that “Pain is just weakness leaving the body”.
