I have trouble being happy. I never associated it with depression until a friend suggested it to me.

I just thought it was the way I was. Been depressed since I was a child due to various things, thought that is how everyone was. Not until I got older and a doctor told me I had major depression. Meds have helped.
Yes, it happens all the time. But it is not necessarily the best thing to do. You have to ask your self, whats happening. If your trying to get attention by doing stupid crap, then yeah. You might of been physiology abused. You gotta tell your self that you are a great person. And if you know whats going on. GET HELP. I hope that helps. Your life depends on your positive emotions.
i think it’s possible to come to the realization that your unhappiness might be deeper and more prolonged than others and have it stand out as not being “normal” to yourself and then question whether you have depression or another condition you hadn’t been aware of or didn’t consider, sure, … that’s kind of what drove me to seek professional help and diagnosis…
Yeah it happened to me when my best friend moved and some other stuff…then I got on some antidepressants and it was so weird I was like ” I’m finally happy” I would smile while I was depressed but i didn’t feel truly happy if that makes sense
Being depressed without feeling depressed? Yes, often with the symptoms of sleep or appetite disturbance or a desire to avoid social situations or a loss of interest in activities. It is atypical.
I was depressed for three years and didn’t REALLY know it until after the fact. I’ve been mildly depressed since then (about 4 years) and I’m actually just realizing that because before it was severe so in comparison to how I used to be, I’m a lot better. But in comparison to how I SHOULD be, I need some improvement.
